Artist’s Comments: Movable type was invented by the Chinese around A.D. 1040, and some 400 years later Johannes Gutenberg used movable metal type in a mechanical press to produce the first affordable bibles, with the Renaissance, in part thanks to the printing press, advancing soon after.
