The lotus is the symbol for enlightenment (coming Alive!), because it comes out of mud to sit in beauty upon the water’s surface. My friend, Fran McColman, took the photo at the National Arboretum. The author, Dr. Howard Thurman, was mentor and spiritual advisor to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.Michael
