The text is the first verse from the first chapter of the Tao-te-ching; the Chinese character is "Tao," the Eternal Principle. The verse suggests that any human understanding of the Eternal, or of God, will necessarily be limited and finite. Such definitions of the Infinite must be held with a degree of humility.Michael
